A14 update: Local Road now open

Published: 14 April 2020

A14 update: Highways England has now fully opened the Local Road both ways alongside the A14 from near the Swavesey junction past Bar Hill, and into Cambridge past the Crematorium. The road is numbered as the A1307.

The announcement continues:

The road is single carriageway in both directions with a speed limit of 40mph, and for the time being the cycleway / footpath along side it will remain closed.

This will mean that Lolworth village, Hill Farm & cottages, the Travelodge and Herbies Diner will be accessible from both directions, east and the west from the new local road.

Also residents of Swavesey, Boxworth, Fenstanton and surrounding villages to the west will be able to get to Bar Hill, Dry Drayton bridge and the A1307 Huntingdon Rd into Cambridge without having to use the A14.

At the same time as the local access road opening, the exits for Lolworth Village and Hill Farm & Cottages and into the Travelodge & Herbies Diner site from the A14 eastbound carriageway will be permanently removed, as per scheme design, to allow the completion of the works on the main carriageway.
